TOPANGA BANJO & FIDDLE CONTEST
The Topanga Banjo & Fiddle contest occurs at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills. This a great event for our radio and non-radio members. We will operate in 3 shifts for this event but please participate when you can. Shift 'A' will be from 0800 to 1100, Shift 'B' will be from 1030 to 1430, and shift 'C' will be 1400 to 1800. Radio operators please note this will be a HT event. All participating members are reminded to wear their DCS ID and your DCS uniform. Paramount Ranch is located on Cornell Rd. off of Kanan Rd. south of the 101 freeway.

SHERIFF'S CYCLEFEST COMM SUPPORT
The Cyclefest will consist of a bicycle "Tour" of three separate routes of varying lengths from the Long route; 62 mile, a Metric Century, the Intermediate route; 34 miles, and the Short route; 17 miles. All of the routes will be starting from Lost Hills Station. We are tasked with providing communication for all routes. We will need as many operators as possible, and technical assistance with cross band repeaters and simplex operation. Please give a space on your calendar for this event.

AMERICAN HEROS AIR SHOW
DCS-22 will be displaying our Mobile Response Vehicle at the American Heroes Air Show in Lakeview Terrace at Hansen Dam. This is a free event and open to the public. Emergency helicopters and equipment are displayed from all over the southland including military search and rescue units. Check the website at Heroes-Airshow.com.

We must have our van in place before 0800. The Van will depart the Station by 0630 hours and will need at least two persons to man it for the day. Other DCS members can arrive during the day to take booth duty and see the show. The helicopter fly-in occurs during the morning hours and the BIG fly-away occurs about 1600 - 1700 hours. It's quite a sight to see. Plan to bring the family and help us show off our Van during the day.

COUNTYWIDE NET CONTROL
DCS-22 will be conducting the Countywide Net from the Lost Hills Station. We need operators to assist by operating as Net control on several bands. Please notify the LHS net control if you can participate. Message taker positions also need to be filled. All operators will need to be on duty at 1800 to review operating procedures and paperwork.

DCS-22 SPONSORED LICENSING CLASS & EXAM
This special one-day session is designed for those who wish to obtain the entry level Amateur Radio License (Technician) by studying specificaly for the exam, with the intention of taking follow-up classes to learn more about the material and how to operate a radio. Approximately five hours are dedicated to preparing for the exam. During this time registrants are provided breakfast, hot drinks, and a hot lunch. The exam is conducted at 1500 hours (3 PM) and results are known before the end of the session.

Individuals interested in registering for the Licensing Class should go to http://hamclass.goodkin.net. If you need more information, contact Norm Goodkin, K6YXH. All sessions are held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station.

DCS-22 has loaner radios available for those individuals passing the exam and interested in joining the organization. Details will be provided at the class.

This session is the first of a series of three sessions designed to get you started in Amateur Radio. The second session, "Selecting an Amateur Radio", is designed to explain the choices for radios and what the new Ham can reasonably expect from his/her radio. The third session, "How to Use Your Radio" is dedicatd to learning how to use the new radio that you have purchased. Those who are eligible for loaner radios are expected to attend this session. These last two sessions appear on the schedule below.

This is part two of the DCS-22 Program for licensing and recruiting new members. The session is used to explain the choices for radios, and what the new hams can reasonablly expect from a ham radio. A lot of the concepts that are on the Amateur Technician Class exam that they need to understand in order to know what radio to buy, are explained in this session. Radios, brochures and accessories, are available to look at so they will know what they need besides the basic radio. This is actually the class where individuals learn about what radios are and what they do.

This session is open to existing DCS-22 members.

Individuals planning to attend should send an email to Norm Goodkin, K6YXH so he can plan space and materials. This session is held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station.

DCS-22 SPONSORED "HOW TO USE YOUR AMATEUR RADIO" CLASS
This is part three of the DCS-22 Program for licensing and recruiting new members. During this session everyone learns to program a simplex and repeater frequency into their radio, and a quick directed net is held giving everyone a chance to get on the air and test their radio programming. A review of how repeaters work is presented so everyone understands why there's an offset and what frequencies the repeaters are listening to and transmitting on.

Loaner radios are available for use during the class for those without a radio.

This session is also open to existing DCS-22 members.

Individuals planning to attend should send an email to Norm Goodkin, K6YXH so he can plan space and materials. This session is held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station.

DCS County-wide training is held at the County EOC, 1275 N Eastern Ave (just South of the I-10 Freeway), Los Angeles, CA 90063. Training for prospective new members is normally offered starting at 0800. This class will last until approximately 1430 hours. Only individuals who have completed their New Member processing, and who have the approval of the responsible DCO, may attend this class.

If there is enough demand, Van transportation will be provided from Lost Hills Station. Contact Tom Cagan - K-01 to be included.

NAUTICA RACE SUPPORT
The department will need assistance to keep traffic clear of the race. Be at the briefing in the shopping center near the intersection of Busch Rd. and PCH (Near the East end of Zuma Beach) by 0700 on both days. Come in Class C uniform and bring traffic vest, flashlight, and radio. The event will run until about 1200 hours, both days.
