DCS-22 SPONSORED "SELECTING AN AMATEUR RADIO" CLASS
This is the first of a set of two free training classes designed to support individuals licensed through the Goodkin 1-Day Ham Radio Class. It explains the selection of Amateur radios and what new hams can reasonably expect from different equipment. These classes are open to all Amateurs interested in learning about available equipment and the opportunities of becoming a DCS-22 member.

Radios, brochures and accessories, are available to look at so everyone will know what they need to purchase beyond the basic radio. This is the class where individuals learn about what radios are and what they do.

Even though this session is open to all licensed Amateur Radio Operators, you are requested to let Norm and Naomi know you are going to attend because there is limited seating. Individuals planning to attend should send an email to Norm Goodkin, K6YXH.

This class is held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station.

Saturday

AMERICAN HEROS AIR SHOW
DCS-22 will be displaying our Mobile Response Vehicle at the American Heroes Air Show in Lakeview Terrace at Hansen Dam. This is a free event and open to the public. Emergency helicopters and equipment are displayed from all over the southland including military search and rescue units. Check the website at Heroes-Airshow.com.

We must have our van in place before 0800. The Van will depart the Station by 0630 hours and will need at least two persons to man it for the day. Other DCS members can arrive during the day to take booth duty and see the show. The helicopter fly-in occurs during the morning hours and the BIG fly-away occurs at the end of the day. It's quite a sight to see. Plan to bring the family and help us show off our Van during the day. Simplex 147.510 MHz will be used on site.

If you can assist with the van movement or booth duty, please email Tom Cagen K-01.

DCS-22 SPONSORED "HOW TO USE YOUR AMATEUR RADIO" CLASS
This is the second of two free training classes designed to support individuals licensed through the Goodkin 1-Day Ham Radio Class. During this session everyone learns to program a simplex and repeater frequency into their radio, and a quick directed net is held giving everyone a chance to get on the air and test their radio programming. A review of how repeaters work is presented so everyone understands why there's an offset and what frequencies the repeaters are listening to and transmitting on.

Loaner radios are available for use during the class for those without a radio.

This session is also open to all Amateur Radio Operators. Individuals planning to attend should send an email to Norm Goodkin, K6YXH so he can plan space and materials.

This class is held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station.
